Literature Text

A shattered art form
What was once gloriously radiant
Now in pieces at my feet
An abstract mosaic
Of brilliant shards
Red, blue, green,
Crystal-clear tints
Reflecting biased prisms
On the ceiling
The shattered brilliance
Still somehow majestic
In a broken, lost-beauty,
Perfectly imperfect
Symmetrically random
Darkly shining
Reminiscent of a sunset
Broken into ripples on the surface
Of a lake
Or marred by
Black-branced trees
Dividing the colors
Into a jigsaw-puzzle
Impossible to reconstruct.
This was written yesterday. I was hanging with my poet-friend Matt, and I wanted to write but had no inspiration. So he told me to write about broken glass. When he said that, I thought "Stained-glass window!" and this is what came of it.
